Spring Style Trend | Slouchy Pants

I have to admit, I’m more of a dress girl and when I do wear pants, it is usually a pair of leggings or skinny jeans.  I tend to like a more fitted look on the bottom to show off my great gams (hey, we all have to play up our assets!).  But lately, I’ve been seduced by the very comfy looking “slouchy” pants that have been popping up all over the place (you may have also heard them referred to as soft pants or joggers).  As a busy mom of a very active toddler, I’m always looking for new ways to look both polished and casual, so I thought I’d give them a shot.

Let me be clear – these are not your grandmother’s pants.

Yes, they are elasticized at the waist and they are comfy but that’s where the similarities end.  The modern slouchy pant is usually tapered or even elasticized at the bottom and can come in an array of great prints.  They also usually have wide pleats at the top to drape and give shape to the softer fabric.

I was afraid of looking like I’d gone out in my pajamas so I topped my look with this vest (vests are also big this season) to add some structure and I kept the top underneath fitted to the body.  I chose a patterned pair for a little added flair – and patterned pants (or fancy pants as I like to call them) are another big trend this spring.  I added a tribal inspired necklace to go with the tribal-feel of the pants (tribal – another spring trend!) and a pop of colour with my satchel.  And voila, a perfect spring outfit.

So here’s my personal take on how to wear the “slouchy” pant.

  1. Haha, I wore trousers like these all through last summer, but now that they’re trendy I have obviously worn them out and got rid of them! Nothing a spot of shopping won’t fix, of course. 😉 Thanks for the trend update! :-)

  2. You look great in these Laura, I think the tapered ankle really makes a difference, and your sandals are beautiful with the trousers. X

  3. I love these: my kind of pant! I’m sure I had a collection of these a long time ago and I usually hang onto to things like this because they are bound to come back in (like tights for example!) but alas, my hubby said they had to go. Wait ’til I show him these! I love having you here to keep me abreast of trends. I always learn loads from your posts. xxoo

I love to read a woman who is confident and comfortable about her style! “I tend to like a more fitted look on the bottom to show off my great gams ” This brings me huge joy. And it gives me great permission to tell you what I like about myself: Lately, I’m totally into wearing tighter tops. I want to announce to the world, “Come on, hug me!”

I love these pants and totally like how you’ve fitted yourself on top the way I want to :) but allow the loose, casual look. Here’s my question with these pants: when I wear them, I feel like my bum is a bowl of jello. That keeps me from feeling comforable. Is there a fabric content less likely to jiggle? or an undergarment that doesn’t cling? Help me out here so I can be comfy inside and out.
